High energy bills
Much is made of high energy bills with many claiming that it is dues to renewables.
When the actual costs due to all energy sources are viewed, it is clear that renewable sources are the lowest costs, and now form a substantial percentage of energy generation, so why do the bills not reflect the savings from those renewables? This lack of low bills occurs in many countries around the world.
The reason is that energy bills are based on the most expensive source, and that is typically gas. Why bills are not composed by prorating each source is because of the lobby power of fossil fuels companies still twisting politicians to keep their profits up. Under this scheme, the more that renewables takeover as sources of energy, the more fossil fuel companies profit. That is, until renewables form 100% of the whole grid, at which point there is no excuse for bills to remain high.
So while politicians still push fossil fuels as an important part of the energy mix under the guise of supposed baseload power requirements, they are hiding that the energy companies are not passing on the actual saving to consumers, but pocketing the higher profits. less the meagre donations they make to political parties. Meanwhile energy companies are using the fraudulently maintained high bill rates as a means of undermining renewables investment though they do provide significant profits in the meantime.
In many countries, reaching 100% will be difficult due to the inherent limits of renewables coupled with a lack of affordable adequate reserve peak capacity in batteries. In those countries, the longer energy companies can keep their fossil fuel sources in the mix, despite how small their portion, the longer they will keep bills high. That is, unless consumers revolt, once enough find out, by pushing politicians to make bills cheaper. Every energy packet is currently calculated at delivery time, so there is no reason why the prorating cannot be done at the same time.
We have to stop this deception, otherwise we will just be funding fossil fuel companies ad nauseum, enabling them to continue being responsible for over five million deaths a year!
