Hijacking free will

Many are driven by wanting to control our societies by controlling what children are allowed to know about.

Schools have mostly been seen as a way to train children to be useful to their societies, though that has usually been about staying in the lane assigned to them by societies' leaders, with those leaders own children being trained to inherit their privilege and power so that they in their turn can continue the exploitation of their societies.

In the US, we are seeing right-wing parents groups trying to claim ownership of their children to prevent them from being able to think for themselves, but instead to indoctrinate and control what they can think about. This is a continuation of the perverted Christian idea that Adam and Eve committed the original sin of partaking of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and thus were ejected from heaven. The idea is that children have to be trained to not search for knowledge and liberation of their minds, but be subservient to their parents and the self-proclaimed leaders of societies.

Denying people their free will and agency might benefit those who seek to exploit them, but it does not build resilient societies where people are free to explore and understand the world, other people, and themselves. Societies cannot evolve if thinking is restricted to only what the few ordain as beneficial to their exploited societies. We need to release our children from the prisons of mind that blind them to the destruction of the earth's capacity to support us, so that they can find the type of societies that allow their thinking to prosper and find new ways for us to all live together.
