Transcending personality

If we confine ourselves to seeing ourselves as some limited personality, we are cutting ourselves off from our most powerful parts of our being.

We are not just our personality but an expanded conscious that we have largely been oblivious to because we are so distracted by what our personality wants from what is external to us. When we begin to see beyond those distractions, we open ourselves to what actually brings us a measure of peace and fulfillment. We can then live free of much of the pressures of society because we are coming to know what our true purpose is.

Personality growth is not spiritual growth: There are a plethora of self-help gurus trying to push us to buy into the idea that improving the personality is paramount, and achievable by following some regime religiously. But is that really what our lives are about?
Religion is not spirituality: We may consider following our religion's practices and believing in a God as being good for our spiritual growth, but are they really?
Spirituality and society are intertwined △: Spirituality is often seen as separate from society, or that too much focus upon societal concerns will detract from spiritual growth.
